Kogi govs Wike tells Ebonyi ,Don’t waste money sponsoring your candidates in Rivers

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has advised governors of Ebonyi and Kogi states, David Umahi and Yahaya Bello of All Progressives Congress (APC), not to waste their money supporting their governorship candidate in the state, saying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has already secured Rivers ahead of 2023 general elections.

The governor, according to a statement by his Special Assistant on media, yesterday, quoted Wike as stating this while honouring 162 Nigerians for their achievements, impactful life and contributions to the progress of the state in particular and the nation in general.

Wike said the awards was the initiative of former Governor, Peter Odili, saying everyone bestowed with an award distinguished themselves by their good character, personal achievements and positive contributions to the society.

The governor stated that eight governors and former governors honoured by the state were selected from different political parties because of their love for the growth and development of Rivers State.

He said: “I want to say to all of you that Governors Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Of Enugu State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State are people you can trust any day, any time.”

Ortom, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said Wike has demonstrated he is a true patriot and nationalist by honouring Nigerians from six geopolitical zones, irrespective of their religious and political persuasion.

Similarly, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, who spoke on behalf of other awardees, said Wike has taken governance to the next level.

“You have indeed demonstrated what it takes to be accommodating, what it takes to be a bridge builder, a builder of bridges across the Niger. You have established a bridge, we are happy crossing over to come around for the purpose of identifying with you in the expression of excellence attributed to the service of the nation and Rivers State.”
